Build Your Homeschool Support Network
Make Connections that Matter for Encouragement, Resources, and Friendship
One of the biggest concerns for many new homeschooling families is the fear of isolation. Will you and your children miss out on social interaction? Will you feel overwhelmed and alone? Let me assure you, you're not alone, and building a strong support network is absolutely essential for a successful (and enjoyable!) homeschooling journey. We’ll talk about the socialization myth later, but for now, let’s focus on building your support network.
There are so many ways to connect with other homeschooling families.
Here are a few places to start:
Homeschool families: Reach out to any homeschooling families you know, even if not well. There’s a unspoken sense of community among homeschoolers that you wouldn’t expect. You might be surprised at the warm welcome you receive. We love to share resources, play dates, and moral support!
Local Co-ops: Co-ops are groups of homeschooling families who come together to share teaching, activities, and social time. They can be a fantastic way for both you and your children to connect with others.
Social Media: Online communities can be a lifeline, especially when you're first starting out. There are countless Facebook groups and online forums dedicated to homeschooling.
One of the fastest ways to find that support is to join me in the TimeTrek Learning community!
I've created the Modern Homeschooling community on X specifically to connect with other families like mine. It's a place to share tips, resources, encouragement, and support – all with a focus on modern homeschooling with traditional values. Reach out to me on 𝕏 TimeTrekFam and I'll get you in contact with a whole mess of homeschooling parents from around the world!
Building a support network takes time and effort, but it's one of the most valuable investments you can make in your homeschooling journey. Don't be afraid to reach out, connect, and ask for help. We are all in this together!
