Why We Chose a Different Path
Just a Family Urging Other American Homeschool Families to Lead in a Rapidly Changing World
Introducing… TimeTrek Learning!
In recent years, we, like so many families, have faced our share of challenges. Our world that once felt full of promise - Dad in tech as an engineer, Mom in healthcare - seems to have shifted dramatically beneath our feet. Opportunities we relied on became uncertain and we found ourselves reevaluating not just our own careers but the unknown careers of our children and the kind of life we wanted to create for them.
The more we looked around, the more clear it became: The usual paths weren’t preparing families or their children for the rapidly changing world we’re living in. The pace of change is staggering. Technology is evolving faster than ever, and with it comes a wave of opportunity and risk. If we want our children to be more than passive participants in this future, we have to start now. It’s not just about learning how to code or embracing AI; it’s about raising kids who can adapt, persevere, and innovate while staying grounded in the values that make strong families and communities.
For us, that meant stepping away from the system and designing a life that reflects what we truly believe: Family comes first. We’d already embraced homeschooling, not as a rejection of the world, but as a way to engage with it more fully. It’s about teaching our kids that learning happens everywhere - around the dinner table, in the yard, at the store, even while wrangling toddlers or toting a baby on your hip.
Family-style homeschooling became our answer. In our home, everyone learns together. The toddlers scribble on paper next to their older siblings tackling algebra. Babies are set up to work on developmental milestones while we discuss history. It’s chaotic, sure, but it’s also beautiful and everyone pitches in to keep our home running smoothly. Homeschooling isn’t about perfection but about perseverance, adaptability, and finding joy in the chaos.
Like every family, we’ve had to make intentional choices about technology. While we embrace it as a tool to prepare our kids for the future, we’re also careful to ensure it doesn’t wreck their time or values. Instead, we strive to focus on building skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and the drive to create real change in a world that’s advancing at lightning speed.
This space is where I’ll share what’s worked for us from homemaking tips and efficient systems to homeschooling strategies for all ages. It’s a place for families who want to prepare their kids for a rapidly changing world without losing the heart of what makes us strong: our love for each other, our commitment to American values, and our belief in the power of perseverance.
Our homeschool Mission Statement:
We embrace family-learning that blends innovation and creativity with traditional values, cultivating adaptable, persevering children who can thrive and stay grounded in our rapidly changing world. Above all else, we believe in family.
